CVE-2022-3656Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Restricted file disclosure via unchecked symbolic links

Published Nov 1, 2022 · Updated Nov 12, 2024

Insufficient input validation in Google Chrome before 107.0.5304.62 allows remote attackers to read restricted files via crafted HTML. The File System Access API follows symbolic links in selected upload content without verifying that each target remains within the user-approved path. A user must visit attacker-controlled content and select prepared files; Chrome then discloses the linked local file to the site.
