Unauthenticated code execution via undersized stack buffer
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack overflow in EDitusergroup in H3C Magic NX18 Plus NX18PV100R003 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted HTTP POST. The handler splits the attacker-controlled param value on semicolons and permits up to 64 bytes to be copied into the 16-byte V24 stack buffer. The management request requires no authentication; the published proof of concept restarts the process, while a tailored payload grants a root shell.
