Unauthenticated code execution via unbounded sscanf parsing
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack overflow in DEleteusergroup on H3C Magic NX18 Plus NX18PV100R003 allows remote attackers to execute code via an HTTP POST. The function parses the param form field with an unbounded sscanf %[^,] conversion into the fixed-size V7 stack buffer. No authentication is required; the published proof changes the process ID, while crafted control data yields a root shell.
