Unauthenticated code execution via unbounded sscanf parsing
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in EnableIpv6 in H3C Magic NX18 Plus NX18PV100R003 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted param value. EnableIpv6 parses the attacker-controlled param form value with sscanf using an unbounded %s conversion into a fixed-size stack buffer. An unauthenticated POST request to the router management interface can overwrite the stack, interrupt the service, or execute code with root privileges.
