Arbitrary command execution via unsanitized traceroute input
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
OS command injection in TOTOLINK N350RT firmware 9.3.5u.6139_B20201216 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via a crafted request. The setTracerouteCfg function uses sprintf to place the command parameter into a shell command, then passes the resulting string through dosystem to system without neutralizing shell metacharacters. Network access to the management CGI is sufficient; the published proof of concept reports stable root-shell access without authentication.
