Unauthenticated code execution via unbounded PPPoE username
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in TOTOLINK N350RT 9.3.5u.6139_B20201216 allows remote attackers to execute code via pppoeUser. The cstecgi.cgi request path passes the attacker-controlled PPPoE username to sprintf without a length limit, overwriting a stack buffer. A crafted HTTP POST can overwrite control data, redirect execution, and obtain a root shell without authentication.
