Unauthenticated code execution via unbounded sPort formatting
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack overflow in TOTOLINK A3700R 9.1.2u.6134_B20201202 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted sPort value. setIpPortFilterRules passes sPort through sprintf without limiting the formatted length, overflowing a stack buffer. The public proof of concept targets /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi and reports program-counter control and a root shell without authentication.
