Code execution via unbounded language string formatting
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in TOTOLINK A3700R firmware 9.1.2u.6134_B20201202 allows attackers to execute code via a crafted lang value. The setLanguageCfg handler passes the attacker-controlled lang string through sprintf into a fixed-size stack destination without enforcing a length bound. The published HTTP request demonstrates program-counter control and claims an unauthenticated root shell, although NVD characterizes exploitation as local and low-privileged.
