Arbitrary command execution via unsanitized firmware filename
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
OS command injection in TOTOLINK A3700R firmware 9.1.2u.6134_B20201202 allows local users to execute arbitrary commands. The UploadFirmwareFile function passes the FileName parameter directly to dosystem, whose implementation invokes the system function without neutralizing shell metacharacters. NVD assesses low-privileged local access as the gate; successful injection runs commands with the firmware service's authority and requires no user interaction.
