Root command execution via unescaped host_time
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
OS command injection in TOTOLINK A3700R 9.1.2u.6134_B20201202 allows attackers to execute arbitrary commands through host_time. NTPSyncWithHost passes host_time directly to dosystem, whose implementation invokes the system shell without neutralizing command separators. The demonstrated HTTP request includes a SESSION_ID cookie, while the researcher reports root-shell execution without authentication.
