CVE-2022-36429Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated command execution via hidden Telnet enablement

Published Mar 21, 2023 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Hidden functionality in NETGEAR Orbi Satellite RBS750 4.6.8.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands. The ubus netgear.log handler accepts a crafted JSON-RPC call that invokes telnet_enable, exposing a root BusyBox shell through a hidden Telnet service. Exploitation requires local-network access plus the administrative password or its default, after which the service grants full device command execution.
