CVE-2022-36364Network attack vector

Code execution via unchecked HTTP client class loading

Published Jul 28, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Code execution in Apache Calcite Avatica before 1.22.0 allows remote authenticated users to instantiate classes through JDBC properties. AvaticaHttpClientFactoryImpl loads the httpclient_impl class and invokes its URL constructor before confirming that it implements AvaticaHttpClient. Exploitation requires control of JDBC connection parameters and a suitable constructor-bearing class on the client classpath; resulting code runs in the client JVM.
