CVE-2022-36360

Firmware manipulation via non-cryptographic integrity verification

Published Oct 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Firmware authenticity flaws in Siemens LOGO! 8 BM before 8.3 allow physically proximate attackers to flash manipulated firmware. The firmware update path accepts packages without authenticating them and checks unencrypted firmware integrity only through a non-cryptographic method. Physical access to the update mechanism is required, and exploitation installs attacker-modified firmware, compromising device integrity and availability.
