CVE-2022-36348

Local privilege escalation via active debug code

Published Feb 16, 2023 · Updated Jan 27, 2025

Privilege escalation in Intel Server Platform Services firmware before SPS_E5_04.04.04.300.0 allows local users to gain higher privileges. Production firmware contains active debug code, but Intel has not disclosed the affected component or the operation that lets the code cross a privilege boundary. Exploitation requires authenticated local access to affected server hardware; Intel has not described the resulting privileged actions.
