Unauthenticated code execution via firmware validation overflow

Buffer overflow in firmware validation before 9.4.0-191 allows remote attackers to execute code on Western Digital Cloud Home and SanDisk ibi appliances. The version-validation routine copies attacker-controlled firmware version data without a published account of the affected function or boundary check. Exploitation requires a separate vulnerability to raise privileges first, after which the overflow provides code execution on the appliance.
