Path traversal in Western Digital NAS device firmware and SanDisk ibi firmware allows remote attackers with root access to read sensitive files. The restsdk binary fails to validate a user-supplied path before using it in file operations, permitting shares to target arbitrary directories. Exploitation requires root privileges obtained through an authentication bypass or a separate flaw and exposes files, passwords, user records, and device configurations.
