Browser script execution via reflected upload MIME type
Published Jul 19, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Vesta Control Panel 1.0.0-5 allows remote attackers to execute script via a crafted upload MIME type. The handle_file_upload path copies the request-supplied MIME type into a response object, which generate_response JSON-encodes and body() echoes without output neutralization. Exploitation requires a victim to process the crafted response in a browser, exposing data or actions available to that victim's Vesta session.
