Authenticated script execution via unescaped post titles
Published Aug 23, 2022 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Stored cross-site scripting in Roman Pronskiy Search Exclude 1.2.6 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run scripts via post titles. The plugin accepts the the_title parameter without sufficient input sanitization and later renders the stored title without adequate output escaping. Editor-level access is required to inject a title, and the script executes in another user's browser when that user opens the affected page.
