Remote command execution via unsanitized NTP server
Published Aug 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
OS command injection in Tenda AC9 firmware 15.03.2.21_cn allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via SetSysTimeCfg. The handler passes the attacker-controlled ntpServer parameter to tip_sntp_handle->doSystemCmd without neutralizing shell metacharacters. The management endpoint is network-reachable without user interaction, and successful injection runs commands in the router firmware context.
