Process crash via incompatible tiffcrop options
Published Oct 21, 2022 · Updated May 7, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in LibTIFF 4.4.0 and earlier allows attackers to crash tiffcrop by processing a crafted TIFF file. Tiffcrop permits crop or region options together with incompatible page-mode options, causing extractImageSection to copy beyond allocated image data. Exploitation requires a user to run tiffcrop on the file with the conflicting options; the demonstrated consequence is a process crash.
