Process crash via incompatible crop and page options
Published Oct 21, 2022 · Updated May 7, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in LibTIFF tiffcrop 4.4.0 allows attackers to crash the utility by processing a crafted TIFF file. processCropSelections permits incompatible crop-selection and page-mode options to drive _TIFFmemset past a heap buffer allocated during image rotation. Exploitation requires a user or automated workflow to invoke tiffcrop with the crafted file and incompatible options; the tiffcrop process crashes.
