Administrator account takeover via stored playlist script

Published Dec 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 18, 2025

Stored cross-site scripting in Emby Server 4.6.7.0 allows remote authenticated users to steal an administrator token via a playlist name. The server stores a user-supplied playlist name, and the web app renders its HTML event handler without neutralization when an administrator loads the affected menu. An ordinary account must create the playlist and an administrator must later load the view; the stolen token permits creation of a new administrator account.
