CLI crash via heap-buffer overflow
Published Aug 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in SWFMill 0.3.6 and earlier allows attackers to crash the CLI via crafted SWF input. SWF::Reader::getU30() reads malformed SWF data without sufficient bounds control, causing a heap-buffer overflow during parsing. Exploitation requires local execution of the command-line tool and user interaction to process attacker-controlled input; the published record describes a crash and does not establish code execution or data disclosure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
