Converter crash via near-null pointer dereference
Published Aug 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper exceptional-condition handling in SWFMill 0.3.6 and earlier allows local users to crash the converter via crafted XML input. The SWF::DeclareFunction2::write method performs a read through a near-null address while serializing the supplied XML into an SWF file. Exploitation requires a user or local workflow to process the crafted file, and the demonstrated consequence is termination of the command-line conversion process.
