CVE-2022-36124Network attack vector

Remote service interruption via Reader memory exhaustion

Published Aug 9, 2022 · Updated Jun 23, 2026

Resource exhaustion in Apache Avro Rust SDK before 0.14.0 allows remote attackers to exhaust application memory through crafted Avro data. The Apache advisory identifies the Reader as exceeding memory constraints but does not disclose the input field, allocation site, or erroneous operation responsible. Exploitation requires an application to pass attacker-controlled Avro data to the SDK; successful exhaustion drives the host out of memory and interrupts that application's service.
