Backend password reset via expired token reuse
Published Sep 13, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Broken access control in TYPO3 CMS 10.4.0 through 10.4.31 and 11.0.0 through 11.5.15 allows remote authenticated users to reset backend passwords. PasswordReset::findValidUserForToken authenticates the HMAC-bound timestamp but never compares it with the current time, leaving expired links valid. Exploitation requires a backend user's reset link and permits that account's password to be changed after the default two-hour lifetime.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
