Remote code execution via unescaped tag rendering
Published Sep 8, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025
Eval injection in XWiki Platform 1.7 through 13.10.5 and 14.0 through 14.3 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted tag. Main.Tags inserts the tag request value into XWiki syntax without escaping it, causing embedded Groovy, Python, or Velocity directives to be evaluated with programming rights. View rights suffice, including guest access on public wikis and authenticated access on private wikis, enabling rights bypass and disclosure, modification, or interruption of wiki content.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
