Local file disclosure via fetched path lines
Published Sep 7, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Improper input validation in mangadex-downloader 1.3.0 through 1.7.1 allows remote attackers to read local files via a web URL list. The validate_url routine passes fetched response lines to path-existence and file-open operations, treating lines that name local paths as files to read. Exploitation requires an application user to invoke file: with an attacker-controlled HTTP or HTTPS resource; the advisory reports file reading but no code execution.
