Account impersonation via loose hash comparison
Published Sep 6, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Authentication bypass in SilverwareGames.io 1.1.8 and earlier allows remote attackers to sign in as a victim via a crafted password. The sign-in and sign-up handlers compare password hashes with PHP's loose == operator, coercing hashes beginning with 0e to numeric zero. Exploitation requires a victim hash with that prefix and an attacker-supplied password producing another 0e-prefixed hash; the reported consequence is victim-account impersonation.
