Out-of-bounds write via unchecked 6LoWPAN payload copy
Published Sep 1, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in Contiki-NG before 4.8 allows attackers to corrupt memory by sending oversized 6LoWPAN packets. The sicslowpan input path copies packetbuf_payload_len bytes at the uncomp_hdr_len offset without first verifying the packet buffer's remaining capacity. Reachability requires transmitting an unfragmented packet or the first fragment over 6LoWPAN; code execution and service interruption are not established.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
