Code execution via Mach-O page-index bounds error
Published Sep 6, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in Rizin Organization Rizin 0.4.0 and earlier allows attackers to execute code via a malicious Mach-O file. The reconstruct_chained_fixup function compares a page index with the page_start buffer's byte size rather than its element count, then writes a 16-bit value beyond the allocation. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted file, and successful memory corruption grants code execution in that user's context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
