CVE-2022-36036Public exploit

Arbitrary JavaScript execution via Mermaid blocks

Published Aug 29, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025

Code injection in mdx-mermaid before 1.3.0 allows attackers to execute arbitrary JavaScript via crafted Mermaid blocks loaded by MDXjs. The MDX component processes Mermaid code containing injected JavaScript without preventing its execution during rendering. Exploitation requires control of Mermaid content consumed by an MDX build, and the resulting code runs with that build or rendering process's privileges.
