CVE-2022-36024Network attack vector

Remote shutdown via unchecked interaction context

Published Aug 18, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Pycord 2.0.0 API wrapper allows remote attackers to shut down Discord bots via slash-command interactions sent without the bot scope. In HTTP interaction handling, guild and user context is assigned from client-provided data without the checks required for bot-scoped interactions, reaching the shutdown path. The attack requires a bot installed with application.commands but not bot scope; impact is service interruption of the bot, with no disclosed confidentiality or integrity compromise.
