Cross-site scripting via malformed comment parsing
Published Sep 13, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Cross-site scripting in TYPO3 HTML Sanitizer 1.0.0 through 1.0.6 and 2.0.0 through 2.0.15 allows remote attackers to inject script. The upstream Masterminds HTML5 parser mishandles the comment-end-bang state, so the sanitizer receives a DOM that leaves malicious markup outside filtering. Exploitation requires an application to sanitize attacker-controlled HTML and a user to render the resulting content; successful payloads execute script in that user’s browser.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=>= 1.0.0, < 1.0.7
