CVE-2022-36007Public exploit

Sandbox escape via canonical path prefix comparison

Published Aug 14, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025

Path traversal in jlangch Venice 1.10.16 and earlier allows local users to load files outside configured load paths via absolute paths. LoadPaths.isFileWithinDirectory compares canonical path strings by prefix, so a sibling path whose name begins with an allowed directory name passes the restriction. Exploitation requires low-privilege local access to invoke load-file or load-resource and is limited to prefix-matching sibling paths.
