Process crash via unchecked output-shape overflow
Published Sep 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Reachable assertion in TensorFlow before 2.10.0 allows remote attackers to crash a process through large tf.random.gamma inputs. RandomGammaOp appends attacker-influenced dimensions with TensorShape::AppendShape without propagating its overflow status, causing a fatal CHECK when the combined output shape exceeds limits. Reachability requires an application to pass attacker-controlled shape and rate data to the operation; the demonstrated consequence is interruption of that process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
