Process crash via unchecked shape concatenation
Published Sep 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Reachable assertion in Google TensorFlow allows remote attackers to crash a hosting process through crafted RandomPoissonV2 inputs. The RandomPoissonOp kernel appends the untrusted rate tensor shape to an attacker-controlled sample shape without propagating shape-overflow status, so an oversized combined output reaches a fatal CHECK. The attacker must be able to supply both operands to an application that evaluates this operation; successful exploitation terminates that TensorFlow process without exposing or modifying data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=< 2.7.2
