Process crash via unchecked nonscalar Unbatch id
Published Sep 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Reachable assertion in Google TensorFlow allows remote attackers to crash a process by passing a nonscalar id tensor to Unbatch. In tensorflow/core/kernels/batch_kernels.cc, UnbatchResource extracts input 2 with scalar<int64_t>() without first checking that its shape is scalar, causing a CHECK failure. The crash requires an application to expose attacker-controlled TensorFlow operation inputs; affected releases are before 2.7.2, 2.8.0 through 2.8.0, and 2.9.0 through 2.9.0.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
