Process crash via incorrect boxes tensor type
Published Sep 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Reachable assertion in Google TensorFlow before 2.7.2, 2.8.0, and 2.9.0 allows remote attackers to crash a consuming process. DrawBoundingBoxesOp views the boxes tensor using the image template type even though boxes must be float, so a half-precision image triggers TensorFlow's tensor type CHECK and aborts the process. An application must expose TensorFlow graph execution to attacker-controlled tensors; the consequence is limited to interrupting that process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=< 2.7.2
