Process crash via unchecked multidimensional element shape
Published Sep 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Reachable assertion in Google TensorFlow before 2.7.2 and versions 2.8.0 and 2.9.0 allows attackers to crash a process via a malformed shape. The TensorListScatter kernel passes a rank-two-or-higher element_shape to TensorShapeFromTensor without first rejecting it, allowing an internal CHECK to abort execution. The attacker must be able to supply the malformed shape to either TensorListScatter operation; the consequence is limited to interruption of the hosting process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
