Utility crash via truncated InkNames data
Published Oct 21, 2022 · Updated May 7, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in LibTIFF tiffcrop 4.4.0 and earlier allows attackers to crash the utility via a crafted TIFF file. writeSingleSection traverses malformed InkNames data beyond its one-byte allocation while producing an output section. The victim must run tiffcrop on attacker-supplied input; the demonstrated consequence is process termination, not data disclosure or code execution.
