Denial of service via int64 shape assertion
Published Sep 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Reachable assertion in Google TensorFlow before 2.7.2 allows remote attackers to interrupt service via crafted int64 shape input. The ParameterizedTruncatedNormal kernel treats a valid int64 shape tensor as int32, causing a mismatched-type CHECK failure and process crash. Exploitation requires a TensorFlow execution path that accepts attacker-controlled shape data; impact is denial of service without reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=< 2.7.2
