Restricted data disclosure via incomplete alias resolution
Published Aug 12, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Improper authorization in OpenSearch Security 2.0.0.0 through 2.1.0.0 allows remote attackers to read restricted indexed data. ConfigModelV7 index-pattern resolution omits concrete indexes behind matched aliases from DLS, FLS, and field-masking checks, so those filters are not applied. Exposure requires an aliased index and at least one configured advanced access-control feature; OpenSearch Dashboards creates the .kibana alias by default.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
