Process crash via empty searchsorted input
Published Sep 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Null pointer dereference in affected TensorFlow releases allows remote attackers to crash a TensorFlow process with empty sorted inputs. The LowerBoundOp and UpperBoundOp kernels pass an empty flattened sorted_inputs tensor to search functors that dereference a null data pointer instead of returning zero indices. Exploitation requires control of tensor inputs to a workload invoking either operation, and the demonstrated consequence is a process segfault and service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
