CVE-2022-3594

Denial of service via unthrottled overflow logging

Published Oct 18, 2022 · Updated Apr 14, 2025

Denial of service in the Realtek RTL8152 USB Ethernet driver in Linux Kernel before 6.1 allows physically proximate attackers to exhaust memory. The intr_callback function logs every -EOVERFLOW result through netif_info without rate limiting, allowing repeated errors to generate millions of messages. A specially crafted physical USB device is required, and sustained log growth can exhaust memory and interrupt service.
