Process crash via oversized reshape dimension list
Published Sep 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Reachable assertion in Google TensorFlow before 2.7.2, 2.8.0, and 2.9.0 allows attackers to crash a process through tf.reshape. ReshapeOp fails to bound the shape vector length before computing the output shape, so excessive dimensions overflow the element-count calculation and reach a CHECK assertion. The supplied shape tensor must contain hundreds of dimensions; successful triggering terminates the process executing the operation without reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
