Conversation access via unlimited password guessing
Published Aug 12, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Improper rate limiting in affected Nextcloud Talk releases allows remote attackers with a conversation token to recover its password. RoomController's conversation-password path compares repeated guesses without invoking Nextcloud's throttler or recording failed attempts. Possession of the link or conversation token is required; a successful guess grants access to the password-protected conversation and its content.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
