CVE-2022-35915Network attack vector

Transaction failure via oversized EIP-165 return data

Published Aug 1, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Resource exhaustion in OpenZeppelin Contracts before 4.7.2 allows remote attackers to consume unbounded gas through EIP-165 queries. ERC165Checker.supportsERC165InterfaceUnchecked copies an unbounded staticcall result into memory instead of limiting output to the expected 32-byte value. Exploitation requires a calling contract to query an attacker-controlled target; the oversized result exhausts transaction gas and reverts the operation.
