Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Jul 21, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Unquoted service path in ASUSTeK Aura Ready Game SDK 1.0.0.4 allows local users to gain SYSTEM privileges through a planted executable. The GameSDK Service registers its space-containing executable path without quotation marks, causing Windows to search intervening path components when the service starts. Exploitation requires write access to a searched location and results in attacker-controlled code running as LocalSystem.
