Memory corruption via attacker-controlled log format string
Published Oct 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Format string injection in Abode iota All-In-One Security Kit 6.9X and 6.9Z allows remote authenticated users to corrupt memory. The web_wireless_connect handler embeds the ssid_hex HTTP parameter in cmd_buffer and passes that buffer as the log format argument to vsnprintf. The web interface is disabled by default and must be re-enabled; exploitation can corrupt memory or interrupt service, while disclosed log output requires physical UART access.
